When PR-Tracker is installed to work as a file-server application, the folder on the server that contains the PR-Tracker Database files must be shared. The PR-Tracker client connects directly to the database by specifying the path of the shared folder in the connect dialog. This installation topology is the easiest installation to deploy; however, it has some disadvantages which may outweigh its simplicity of deployment. In file-server mode, all users must have full access to the PR-Tracker Database, which makes it possible for them to tamper with the database directly rather than going through PR-Tracker. In short, the file-server installation topology has the easiest deployment at the cost of security. Also, the file-server application only works with Microsoft Access. If you want to use SQL Server to host the PR-Tracker Database, you must choose a different installation topology.
