Visual Basic Resources on the Internet

There are several places on the internet where a developer can find free Visial Basic Technical support and which I have generally found to be more useful than telephone support provided by Microsoft. These places include mailing lists, newsgroups and websites. I have listed some of them here along with the pros and cons of using them.

Visual Basic Mailing Lists:
The most useful support that I have found is the Visual Basic mailing list. There are currently about thousands of developers from around the world that subscribe to this list. Technical questions submitted to this list will reach these thousands of developers by email in a matter of minutes. I have literally received answers to technical questions within 10 minutes several times.

How to subscribe: To subscribe to this list send email to listserv@eva.dc.lsoft.com. The message body of the email should be SUBSCRIBE VISBAS-L. The subject of the email doesn't matter.

This list generates about 50+ messages a day so if you subscribe to it you may want to have email from that list automatically directed into a separate folder. If your email program isn't able to filter these messages into a separate folder you may be better of using a newsgroup.

There is also a separate mailing list that cover the Visual Basic/Access topic. You can subcribe to that list by sending email to listserv@eva.dc.lsoft.com with message SUBSCRIBE VBDATA-L.

Visual Basic Newsgroups:
